River House was not made to be lived in during the winter. The low roof pitch, the lack of flashing at roof valleys, the poor insulation are proof.
Ice damming has already occurred in a number of places. My neighbors ladder is a house side fixture. We will have a metal roof come springtime.
But in compensation, I can expect a serenade by coyotes on evenings. And the river enchants.
